“A God Sighting”
A God Sighting…
Who can say “I beat my heart”? Instead we say, “my heart beats”. Science calls this “involuntary”. This is correct but incomplete, and begs the question, “If I don’t beat my heart, who or what does?
Scripture says, “…in Him we live and move and have our being”. God’s hand is on each of us. He is not hiding and understands as his children, we can at times lack understanding. In His graciousness, He gives us what you might call “God sightings”, to remind us He is with us. I would like to share a recent “God sighting”.
The “I Will” Dinner
When I met Ronald Ford several months ago he made it easy to remember his name, “ just remember two presidents”. Shortly thereafter he joined my Saturday group. We have since had many discussions about life and faith, both at the mission, and in my car driving to and from outreach dinners at Isaiah House. After the last weekend the men attended a follow up dinner where each man was asked if he would commit to being the man God created him to be for his family and loved ones. Ronald was one of many men who responded publicly by saying “I will”. Before the dinner, Ronald informed me he was looking for a job with a dry cleaners as a driver. I did not think too much of it, but said I would do keep my eyes open.
The Next Day
The next day, without thinking, I found myself at the dry cleaners. Mindful of my recent conversation with Ronald I asked the attendant, “by chance are looking for any drivers?”. They informed me one of their driver’s just quit that day. I informed them I had a friend looking for a job as a driver. Long story short Ronald was hired and even moved to a store more convenient for him and his bus route. He was excited to say the least. To God be the glory. Thank you for helping us bring renewed hope to men like Ronald.
